Change takes Time

It took 20 years from the beginning of Prophethood until Makkah came under the control of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. During that time, the message spread gradually: beginning with individual da‘wah, moving to teaching at the house of Al-Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam, followed by the Hijrah, and ultimately culminating in the overwhelmingly peaceful entry into Makkah in the 8th year after the Hijrah.
Successful change takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight.
Dr. John Kotter warns that declaring victory too soon can undermine momentum before change has truly taken root in the culture. Why? Because lasting change needs time to seep into the “bloodstream” of an organization. The concept of your efforts need time to become the norm rather than remain a temporary fix.
At the same time, your team members may not always recognize the progress being made or see a clear path forward. As a leader, you must use the credibility gained from short-term wins to address the deeper, systemic problems within the organization.
Consider this: Are you treating your first performance improvement as the end of the journey, or as the beginning of something much bigger?
